Violence Restraining Orders

Do you need the protection of the law?

When applying for a Violence Restraining Order (VRO), it is important to make the right decisions early to ensure your long-term protection. A VRO based on solid lawful grounds will be harder for the other party to challenge later. Get the right advice from the start.

Are VRO laws being abused against you?

A wrongful VRO taken out against you may prevent you from going about your normal lawful activities.  A wrongful VRO can be misused against you to:

  • remove you from your home;
  • prevent you from seeing your children;
  • give you a disadvantage in Family Court or other legal proceedings; or
  • simply as revenge from an angry ex-partner or spouse.

While subject to a VRO you are at risk of criminal charges for breaches which can result in permanent convictions and even mandatory imprisonment.
